| There's nothing quite like Mexico!
Famous for its archaeological and historical sites, white
sand beaches, crystal blue waters, and its magnificent
exhibition of culture, Mexico is steeped in history and
natural beauty.
From its Aztec pyramids to its baroque cathedrals,
rustic haciendas to exotic resorts and hotels, arid
deserts to lush forests, Mexico offers unlimited vacation
possibilities.
The heart of the country is Mexico City, alive with
the sights and sounds of the biggest metropolis on Earth.
On the west coast, charming fishing villages like Zihuatanejo
and glitzy resorts like Acapulco and the naturally spectacular
Puerto Vallarta overlook the Pacific Ocean; to the east,
the powder white beaches and turquoise seas of Cozumel
and Cancun await you.
In a country that offers so much, here a just a few
of some of Mexico's highlights.
Located eight miles off the coast of Cancun, Isla Mujeres,
or "island of women," offers a tranquil alternative
to the bustling mainland resort areas. The island is
blessed with beautiful beaches, exquisite sunsets, and
is ripe for relaxation and discovery.
For contrast in close proximity try Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo.
Ixtapa is the most modern resort on Mexico's west coast,
with half of its land protected as an ecological reserve.
Zihuatanejo has an unpretentious, informal attitude
and a serene setting along a sheltered harbor.
One of the most modern, and by far the most visited,
tourist resorts in the country, Cancun characterized
by rows of resort hotels and beautiful beaches, where
the sand is particularly fine and brilliantly white
due to its coral origin. Cancún is stunning,
with seas that sparkle in every imaginable shade of
emerald and turquoise while sheltering a wealth of reef
life.
Just south of Cancun, the Riviera Maya is taking shape
as Mexico's newest vacation spot. The region is filled
with scenic and natural wonders, bordered by palm-fringed
beaches and tropical coves. Also, some of the most fantastic
archaeological sites are found here. Try Playa del Carmen
for its laid back but sophisticated feel.
Divers and snorkelers will be enthralled by Cozumel.
Lying Twelve miles off Mexico's Yucatan, this is a gorgeous
island getaway.
Acapulco is famous for beaches, romantic sunsets, and
glamorous nightlife that attracted Hollywood's hottest
celebrities in the 1950s are still very much a part
of Acapulco today. This "Queen of Mexican Beach
Resorts" is set around a crescent-shaped bay. After
the dark the party starts - non-stop excitement of countless
nightclubs, discos, and restaurants, make Acapulco a
vacation spot that's fantastic night and day.
In contrast to the party-based reputations of destinations
like Cancun and Acapulco, Huatulco is a serene tropical
haven, better known for its rural charm and ecological
wonders. Boasting of nine idyllic bahias (bays), Huatulco
covers a stretch of 22 miles along the western shore
of Mexico.
On the Baja, Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.
have been a vacationer's delight for many years. These
former fishing villages now offer spectacular beaches
and golf. Whale watching (mid-January to mid-March)
is also a great draw to San Jose del Cabo.
Futher north on the Baja, fishing fans and windsurfing
lovers will find Loreto. Surrounded by cactus desert,
jagged mountains, and the Sea of Cortez, Loreto has
an easy-going desert-by-the-sea ambiance that appeals
to people who want to bask in nature. The sleepy village
is dotted by vineyards and olive groves.
Mexico - something for everybody!
